Advanced Denim Class
A comprehensive review of denim and it’s production and washing complexities. The class begins with the basics of denim fiber, transitions into dyeing processes, weaving, finishing and concludes in wet, dry processing. The class gives a greater understanding in denim product development, the why behind industry standard, understanding your mill’s behavior, and washing denim to achieve specific aesthetics. The class is about 4 hours long.
Advanced Wet Processing
An in-depth look at wet processing. Students will be instructed how to best comment on wash developments and advised on formula writing to achieve specific aesthetics. Additionally, students are advised on understanding the order of operation for wet processing and quality control. The class also teaches the analytics of cost analysis for washing on a global scale. The class is 5 hours in long.
Advanced Dry Processing
This class is to be taken in conjunction with Advanced Wet Processing. Students will cover an overview of dry processing, and the chemistry involved in all areas of dry processing. Like the Advanced Wet Processing class, this class also covers detailed order of operation information for dry processing and quality control. Additionally, this class covers analytics of costing on a global scale. The class is 3 hours in duration.
Brush-Up on Dyes and Dye Stuff
This component provides an in-depth review of all dyes used for textiles and garment making and their property in relation to wash and fiber. This class is tailored for a merchant or new fabric manager with limited knowledge of dye-stuff or someone who has not reviewed dyes, dye chemistry for several years. The class lasts 3 hours.
Brush-Up on Yarns and Twists
This component reviews yarn types and fibers. This class is tailored for a merchant or new fabric manager moving into a new category of product. Class 2 hours.
Brush-Up on Weaving
This component is a detailed review of textile weaving, weaving properties and diversity in style and technique. Also covered are performance differences amongst different weaving methods and how this can effect buying decisions. Class lasts 2 hours.
